Lech's trip to
Beta Wilderness Challenge
Beta Wilderness Challenge is one program of the Beta Theta Pi's Men of Principle Initiative, designed to bring back the originating principles and values of Beta to today's fraternity man. The outdoor mountain adventure is a 5-day trip through the mountains of the Southwest United States where undergrad Betas study the fraternity's lore, traditions, rituals, along with strengthening ties between brothers.

Here's when the group was packed and ready to hike in June 2004. Nine undergrads from
universities and colleges from coast to coast -- from. Johns Hopkins to Washington State University -- started their adventure at 9000 feet.

On the last day of the trip, the crew peaked in Utah.

It's June -- and there's snow. In this shot, the group decided not to cross the pass, rather to climb it and return to a base camp because weather was so poor. Lech is in the gray suit in front. To preserve the ecosystem, the group is spread out to avoid distrupting the environment. This photo was taken minutes before a whiteout storm stopped the trip short. They are climbing at this point at about 11,000 ft.
